SARASOTA TREE-HOUSE

Sited in Architect, William Taylor's home town, this design represents a true adventure for both patron and designer. The patron's dream; to live in a tree-house - perched above the very coastal site  occupied by her current family home. Using her dream as the guiding principle, the design team began to distill and incorporate the classic tree-house experiences. From arriving under a light-dappled canopy, to climbing up the tree's trunk, to  appreciating a long view from a protected perch. A clever half-floor scheme allows the vertical flow to function, as well as provide unique views and experiences from all spaces. Water-Jet cut steel panels provide privacy, but also protect the house from the intense Florida sun, just like a gracious shade tree.
